Marriage: How Much Does It Matter?

There are many familial, economic, social and spiritual reasons for marriage.
Matthew 19:6 says, "So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

People tend to spend so much money on the wedding day, then spend a great deal of time and money to get out of a marriage. Perhaps we should invest more into the marriage itself.

The cost of a wedding

According to The Knot, an All-In-One Wedding Planner, with the #1 Wedding App, the average cost of a wedding in the US in 2019 was approximately $20,000.00. Some people are willing to accrue debt for that one special day.

The cost of a divorce

According to a Bankrate survey, the average cost of a divorce in the United States is around $15,000 per person, although it can be anywhere from a few hundred to much more than the average. The costs associated with divorce don't end when the divorce is final. There are more financial as well as social, emotional, developmental and economic ramifications.
